ISLANDS CERTIFIED LOCAL
The ARC created the Islands Certified Local program to promote local agricultural products. In 2007, food establishments that committed a minimum of 5% of their food budget to purchasing local foods were invited to become members of the program. In 2008, farmers and food processors selling island grown agricultural products were invited to participate in the program. The ICL program celebrates the bounty of our rich agricultural lands and recognizes the value of buying from our neighbors, which strengthens our economy.
Look for the Islands Certified Local program logo on island products at the farmers markets, grocery stores and food specialty shops. Participating food processors use a minimum of 75% island grown ingredients in their products.
